Story
Taking place many years before the birth of Twinsen (the hero of LBA 1 & 2), the LBA Prequel story revolves around Hégésippe, an ancestor of Twinsen who is mentioned in LBA 1:
"This room contains information and weapons that were amassed for generations to help the Heir who will, one day, be chosen from our descendants. The key to the room was passed down from generation to generation, but our ancestor Hégésippe was the last family member to retain the key. He was attacked and killed by the ruthless pirate LeBorgne during a sea voyage. Nobody knows where Leborgne's treasure, which undoubtedly contains the golden key to the room, is today."
And this is all we know of Hégésippe. Not much, but its enough for our talented Prequel team. We had thought about having a game based upon Twinsen, and even with Funfrock as the enemy once again, but we ended up settling on Hégésippe since he would bring a wholly original story to the LBA universe as well as preventing us from clashing with any future games made by Frédérick Raynal's team. In fact, Mr. Raynal had indicated in a chat that if a particular fangame were done well enough, it may be considered canonical, which we hope will happen.
Hégésippe is a young quetch who lives on Lanyar Island, long before Funfrock's rise to power, long before the birth of Twinsen. Brash, untamed, and frustrated, he is the ideal definition of a young man trying to seek out his destiny. To find direction, he must do so without his parents, who were killed when he was very young. Along with his brother Jules, Hégésippe has been raised by his paternal grandfather Alexis, who is quite old and frail.

Recently, the entire planet has been circulating with rumours since a strange artifact was found on Lanyar Island. It appears to be ancient, and was found by accident when a rabbibunny mail-carrier lost his way when he was delivering parcels along the coastline. He happened to uncover a strange cave, apparently hidden for centuries. Inside, he found the artifact, and the local media has been buzzing ever since. The strange symbols enscribed on the artifact lend credence to speculation that it is somehow magical, but the Twinsunian Wizards Council refuses to comment. Hoping to protect the integrity of the artifact, the famous archaeologist Zubari has personally offered to be the counsel for the rabbibunny and the strange fragment, deflecting press attention until its origins can be discovered.
Even more troubling is the arrival of pirates on Proxima Island, which has been ransacked and raided by these vile buccaneers. Leaving a path of destruction in their wake, it appears they have set their sails towards Lanyar Island!
What will happen when Hégésippe's grandfather Alexis falls ill? Will he be able to save him, or will it be too late? Why isn't the Wizards Council discussing this strange artifact? Who is this strange Zubari behind the public facade, and what are his true intentions? What are the pirates looking for, and who can hope to stop them?
These questions and more will be answered in the LBA Prequel.
