The LBA Prequel Team is looking for experienced C/C++ programmer with knowledge about reverse engineering to help out with a new side project. We decided that a better quality engine (with a few improvements such as hi-quality movies, sound and music, portability, etc.) will be necessary for a improved project progress. In this vein, we've created a side project named Prequengine totally independent from Prequel game itself. At first, we want this new team only focus in the engine and not in the game content. For more informations about this project and its progress, take a look at the "The Engine" link in main menu. All submissions should include samples of your work. Please apply today by sending an email to LBAPrequel@gmail.com. Remember, we would like someone who is able to begin work right away. If you think you can help, please send us an email!
The LBA Prequel Team is proud to announce the release of new screenshots, along with extensive developer commentary, through our Developers Blog.
You can find the developers blog at:
http://lbaprequel.xesf.net/blog/
We hope you enjoy them, and we look forward to your comments. Thanks!
Also, the transfer might broke some links. We're trying to fix every single one as soon as we notice, but it is possible that we overlook something. If you find a non-working link, please tell us!
I know that many of you have been waiting a long time for the Prequel demo (maybe too long), and we greatly appreciate all the support and encouragement around the forums and via email over these past few weeks. Two months ago, I had given an estimation on a release date for the demo (November 1st). Someone asked for a date, and even if the date would have to be rescheduled later, I hoped that we would make it before that date. I’m not really sure why that date has been taken and announced as a deadline. To be clear, I am not trying to excuse myself, because I am also responsible for that delay. I just wanted you to know how came to that the date had been set and not kept...(read the full release at the links below)
For more information, please check the Prequel Blog as well as the thread at Magicball Network forums.

The LBA Prequel Team is proud to (finally) release to the public its first slideshow video, showcasing some of the great concept work, atmospheric music, Prequel CGI, in-game models, and even a little voice acting! This slideshow has been delayed because we had been waiting to release it exclusively to a particular website, but instead have decided something more up-to-date would be better. Keep in mind that this was done 3-5 months ago, when we were still showcasing concept art rather than in-game models. We hope you enjoy this clip! For more information (and a smaller download size), there will be a flash version available at the LBA Prequel Blog.
You can download the file here.
You may have already noticed this if you've been checking our website over the past couple of days, but the LBA Prequel Team is pleased to announce our new Developer's Blog, which can be found at here. In addition, there is also a link to the blog on our homepage, in the left navigation menu.
With this new blog, we hope to phase out the Prequel newsletter, and for a variety of reasons, all of which are good. First, we found that it was too difficult to make a professional style newsletter while working on the project - we were devoting too much time to working on the newsletter and its specific content, and not concentrating on the game. Bad idea. Secondly, we wanted to get more of that 'Developer Interview' feel from the newsletter out to you , as many of you said you enjoyed that portion of the newsletters specifically.
Consequently, we are officially announcing the end of the LBA Prequel newsletter, so that we can fully concentrate on the game itself. Instead, now each Prequel team member will provide frequent updates on their individual work on the Developer's Blog, as well as taking questions and posting screens and clips relevant to the game. We feel that this will provide a much more personal experience, as well as allow us to update more frequently, since blog posts are much simpler to construct than a newsletter.
This blog will be updated frequently; our goal is to have each member post about every week or so with a little update/check-in to let you know how their progress is going, what they are working on, and what they feel like. Neko and Zink have already posted their entries, so please check them out and leave comments and questions for them!
Again, big thanks to the LBA community for your help and support of our project. We hope that this blog, in replacing the newsletter, will be much more accessible and user-friendly to all involved. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us at LBAPrequel@gmail.com
Best Wishes,
The LBA Prequel Team
The LBA Prequel is beginning to record voices for our demo, and not only do we need some actors in that particular area, but we are still looking to fill holes in the cast. This includes some pretty substantial leading roles, as well as a few smaller, more supporting roles, all the way down to NPC's who may only have one or two lines. So, whether you seek the glory of a major role, or just want to have your own little personal contribution with a bit part, there is no excuse why you cannot send us a sample for all to hear!
Specifically, for the demo, we are looking for a few parts in particular - most notably, we need policemen, bullies and hoodlums, sailors, shopkeepers, salesmen, and other regular citizens you would expect to find around Twinsun. You can find a complete list of the sample scripts on our website in the permalinked version of this news article. We sincerely hope that you will join us, and not only be a part of the demo, but also a part of this great community project!

Spatarel Dan Constantin ('MGLC') has been developing a .BMP to .FLA converter for our project for months now, and we are pleased to announce that it is complete and ready for release. This converter is now integrated into the LBA Screen Viewer and it should be released withinin the next few days to the public.
With this tool, we will now be able to fully integrate 3D models and CGI into cutscenes and a slew of other great uses, so we are grateful that Sparatel was able to help us out. Now more than ever, this sort of contribution from the LBA community shows that this truly is a fan project, and everyone can help! He saw on our website that we did not have such a converter as of yet, and took the time and the initiative to construct one for us.
Once again, thanks to Spatarel for his hard work, and bringing us a program that will not only help make our game better, but will be a wonderful addition to all LBA fan projects.
After much trouble getting the system to work, we finally have the results of our first LBA Prequel Poll. The question was: "Which Prequel Character Are You Most Excited About?"
- 28% said Adrian Zubari
- 27% said Captain Lucius
- 20% said Iris
- 14% said Dr. Knap
- 10% said Faolain
Without a doubt, you said that both Zubari and Lucius were the two most intriguing characters, with Iris a close third. Please check out our latest poll question, as it will help us with constructing our new demo which will be released very soon! (Remember, you can find the poll question on the frontpage of the LBA Prequel website)
After a short period of downtime, the LBA Prequel site has been fully restored and is back online (as you can tell, since you're reading this). We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any problems, questions, or comments, please feel free to contact us.
Thanks!
The LBA Prequel Team
The LBA Prequel Team would like to announce the official release of the second edition of the Prequel newsletter. Also, you'll find an exclusive LBA Prequel wallpaper featuring the hero of our adventure, Hegesippe, and much, much more...
The LBA Prequel Team is pleased to announce its latest addition to the voice talent team, David Weston, better known as "Purple Sheep" around the Magicball Network forums. Once again, were very happy to see MBN members sending us auditions, as the more community support we receive for our game, the better it will be! If you'd like to try your hand at voice acting, please follow the instructions on our website and send your samples to LBAPrequel@gmail.com
Congrats to David!
The LBA Prequel Team is looking for an experienced 3D modeler to help out with the project. Our head modeler, Lewis Guarniere, would like someone to help with some of the tasks that are currently mounting as the game development continues. Job requirements include experience in modeling, texturing, animation, and lighting. Preferably users should have skill with Maya, which is the main program for this project, and also requires skill with Adobe Photoshop. All submissions should include samples of your work. Congrats! Remember, we are always looking for voice talent at the LBA Prequel Team, so please send us your auditions today! Loyal readers and fans! The LBA Prequel Team is still looking for voice actors to fill a variety of roles. Remember - ALL LEAD ROLES REMAIN OPEN. This means that everyone still has an equal chance in landing a role of one of the main characters, and no one has been cast yet. However, we still need people for the rest of the characters as well, so please follow the instructions on the Prequel website, and send us you audition today. Also - For members at the Magicball Network, we have received very few auditions from members there, which is somewhat disappointing. We really want to make this a community project, and would like to have as many members of our community lend their voices to this project as possible, so please send your samples today! Thanks!
The LBA Prequel Team is looking for someone with experience in programming PHP language using the MySQL Data Base to construct a Non-Playable Character Dialogue system for the game. Is also requires knowledge in HTML/CSS2 for the interface. Note that this system is very structured and meant for planning the game. If you meet these requirements and are interested in helping, send us some samples of your work and your qualifications. Please forward your information to our Prequel email. Thank you, and good luck! LBAPrequel@gmail.com
In one of the many press releases to be coming over the next few months, noted gaming website PTGamers (Portuguese) has created a news article about the Prequel and its development and impending release. Please check out the article, which can be found here: PTGamers: LBA Prequel...
The LBA Prequel Team is pleased to announce that another edition of the Prequel Newsletter will be released in the not-so-distant future. However, to clear up some confusion, we've received numerous emails inquiring whether there was a problem with the February 2007 edition of the newsletter, and why people hadn't received it, and why we didn't upload it to the archive. To all of our readers and fans of the project: there was no February 2007 edition of the newsletter.
We are publishing the newsletter on the basis of delivering you the Prequel updates and news when it is pertinent and newsworthy, and we aren't going to try and boost people with false pretenses and news that really doesn't say anything. We didn't release a February newsletter because there wasn't any major progress during the period since the last newsletter...that doesn't mean the project isn't working, or it has stopped, but we've simply been plugging away and haven't broken any revolutionary ground. Also, some of the stories we are working on for the next edition have been in development for a bit (like the interviews), and we didn't want to rush them. That being said, we are working hard every day on the project, and we are still on schedule and proceeding full-speed ahead.
The LBA Prequel Team appreciates your patience and continued interest in our project, and you should be expecting a new edition of the newsletter very soon! We'd like to apologize for any confusion regarding the issuance or scheduling of the newsletter and its release. However, for the record - the Prequel Newsletter isn't a monthly or weekly item, but one that will be released as noteworthy progress on the project continues.
Once again, thanks for your emails and interest!
The LBA Prequel Team would like to announce the official release of their newsletter. This first issue, from January 20th, 2007, features an in-depth look at Alexfont and Zink's new programs, Lewi-G's interpretation of the magic ball, an update on Neko's music score, and a developer's interview with Double-J! Also, you'll find an exclusive LBA Prequel wallpaper, and much, much more...
Want to get a first glimpse at what the LBA Prequel characters look like? New images and concept art by Luke Farookhi ('LukeNoNumbers') has been uploaded into the Characters page, where you can now get a view of nearly every one of the lead characters in Hégésippe's adventure. Some are final designs, others are rough sketches at this point, but they should whet your appetites and give you a general idea of who will make up this exciting new odyssey!
The LBA Prequel Team will be releasing their first edition of their newsletter very soon, possibly as early as today (1/19). If you want to receive your copy of the Prequel newsletter, make sure you sign-up on the LBA Prequel homepage!

LBAPrequel@gmail.com
Congratulations to Whitney!
Don't dismay at the recent inactivity level here on the LBA Prequel website...we're still as hard at work as ever trying to bring you the latest chapter in the LBA Universe! We're always looking for more voice talent, and our sound engineers are lonely during the holidays, so please send us your samples and give them something to do (just kidding...). In all seriousness, we still need to fill a number of voice talent positions, including a number of lead roles. So if you think you could fit the bill, please send us an audition!
We will try to update it frequently and hopefully bring you new things.

The LBA Prequel Team is looking for someone with experience writing Wikipedia articles to construct a Prequel entry for Wikipedia. If you could, please send us some samples of your work (preferably other Wikipedia articles you've written), so that we can get an idea as to whether you're qualified for the job. Please send your information to our Prequel email...
The LBA Prequel Team would like to announce the addition of a new audition script located under the "Cast" page. Our newest character to be revealed, "Iris," is the second-in-command of the pirates. For obvious reasons, we'd appreciate female-only auditions for this character. You can check out her profile in the "Characters" section...
The LBA Prequel Team wants to hear your opinion! That's right, we want to know what you think we're doing right, and what we could be doing better. We encourage all visitors to use the "comments" feature on each of our webpages, and to please send us emails and let us know how we are doing...
The LBA Prequel Team is looking for female voices for the project. So far, we've received numerous auditions for males, but we haven't had any female auditions...

The LBA Prequel Team wants you to send us your audio, art, music, and voice samples! We've had tons of emails from people who would like to help us out with the project, but very few have attached any examples of their work; we can't let you in unless we know what you can do. In the future, all audition or job submission emails should be accompanied by some sort of resume/skills list (it doesn't have to be formal, it should be casual) as well as an example of your work...
