FAQs

What is the LBA Prequel project?
The LBA Prequel project is a game developed by fans of the Little Big Adventure series that is designed to take place before LBA 1. This was done to prevent any conflicts with future games. It will utilize the LBA engine in order to create a game that is similar to the official ones, but it will feature an original storyline designed exclusively for this game and new graphics for an LBA experience never before seen from fangames.

How much will the final game cost?
Free, of course. LBA is a series developed by Frédérick Raynal and his team at Adeline Software, and while the original games are over a decade old, many of the copyrights are still in effect, and therefore we cannot legally make any profits from this game. We wouldn't charge for this game anyways, since this is simply a fan project that is being done in our spare time, to be enjoyed by the entire community.

Is there a demo?
There is a demo currently in the works, which is planned for release sometime in Autumn 2007. It could come as early as the end of August, and possibly as late as the beginning of October, depending on how much time we can devote to the Prequel.

Is there any release date?
We hope to have the game completed sometime within the next year and a half, but there is no hard release date at this time. Our best estimation is late 2007 or early 2008.

And LBA Prequel is only developed for...
...Windows-based PC's. Though the original game was released for both the Playstation and for PC, it isn't feasible for us to do this with the Prequel.

What about the hardware requirements?
Our hardware requirements should not be much more demanding than that of the original games, which were released in 1994 and 1997, respectively. According to the original manual, the requirements were:

486/25 (486/66 recommended) processor; 4MB RAM (8MB recommended); CD-ROM.

Considering that the vast majority of people have hardware that is by today's standards vastly superior to these original requirements, most PC users should be able to play this game, especially if you were able to play the two official games. These games are designed to be fun and look good, but not be overly taxing on a system resources or force you to buy an expensive video card to play them.

It is important to note that you will need the original CD for LBA 1. In addition, it is highly recommended that you download LBAWin, a modification tool that will allow you to play the original game in a Windows environment.

How close with the Prequel be to the original Little Big Adventure games?
As aforementioned, the game will be based on the actual LBA engine, which means that it should be nearly identical in controls and movements to the original. While this game may not necessarily be canonical (as the script is being written by the Prequel team and not Fred Raynal), it is based upon the adventures of Twinsen's ancestor Hegesippe, who is mentioned in LBA 1. With an original story loosely based on the LBA games and graphics similar to or better than the originals, this game will provide the player a whole new adventure in the LBA universe with the atmosphere and feeling that made the original games so special.

Our goal has been to create a unique and original story that fits well into the LBA series. We hope that while this game is not an official title, it will both serve as a nice addition to the games as well as shed some light on a period of Twinsunian history we have never before experienced!

Who are the members of the LBA Prequel team?
You can find more information about the Prequel team at the Members page.

Can I help?
Yes! This is a fan project, and we need all the help we can get. We're all normal people who have jobs and lives outside of this project, so if you can contribute some of your spare time, it would be welcome. In fact, we encourage you to contribute your voice to the project in order to make this a more community-based game, to get all of the LBA fans across the globe involved. Contact a team member or submit an audition and let us know how you can help!
